FOOD & NUTRITION
“Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.” This famous quote is attributed to the ancient Greek physician Hippocrates, considered to be the father of modern medicine. (He was also credited with the statement “First, do no harm,” as part of the Hippocratic oath, a foundation of contemporary medical ethics.)
A well-balanced diet is one pillar of good health, along with sleep and exercise. Herbs, aromatherapy and flower essences can all build upon good food, but are not expected to correct the side effects of the Standard American (SAD) Diet. Therefore, dietary guidelines and choices are necessarily a part of a thorough herbal consultation.
Good food choices are tailored to each individual’s constitution and lifestyle. Meal planning, grocery shopping, cooking & storing are all considered. Dietary preferences and restrictions are respected, as we work together to reinforce healthy eating habits.
